Description

Mai Tai is a breathtakingly complex rum cocktail, featuring rum, orange liqueur, and fancy almond syrup

When Trader Vic developed the cocktail in 1944, it was a simple drink highlighting the pungent flavor of a 17-year-old Jamaican rum. One of his visiting Tahitian friends enjoyed the cocktail so much that one said, "Maita'i roa a'e!" as in "out of this world!" Bergeron called his new cocktail "Mai Tai," as in "the best.".
